Inverurie and District

About Us

Inverurie and District u3a had its inaugural meeting on the 13th January 2026 in St Andrew’s Church Hall and and a Steering Group has been setup to see us through our first year.

The u3a is an international organisation which began in France in 1973 and spread rapidly across Europe. The organisation is aimed at improving the quality of life of the retired or semiretired by acting as a hub for groups. The groups are set at the core of the organisation; offering opportunities for members to participate in educational talks and activities, and through this, acquiring new skills. This fosters involvement and a sense of belonging within the local community. The u3a encourages friendship and social interaction as well as creating supportive networks among older adults. Please consider joining a group or volunteering to help run a group.

Aims

The u3a focuses on self-help, shared learning and social engagement fostering local community connections. We aim to establish a hub for locally run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities for people to come together to learn and have fun. As a committee we offer general encouragement of new groups with support and information on e.g. venues.

We plan to establish a database and a method of communication for groups. We will handle enquiries and feed in new interested members and set up an information website.

We assure you that your information is safe with us.
